The new mission comes amid increasing worry about the nation's susceptibility to online disruptions and online threats.

Recent situations have highlighted these vulnerabilities, including a widespread failure affecting global cloud computing and latest online threats that halted manufacturing at significant plants and distribution networks across various businesses.

A previous senior officer of the Britain's aerial defense command will report back next month on how the government-funded institute can best support the scale of government AI ambitions in defense, national security and information gathering.

The organization's leader, a previous Amazon UK leader, confirmed that multiple research initiatives at the organization with 440 employees have been closed, transferred out or completed because they do not align with the revised strategy.
