Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
