Ex- BBC Consultants Face Members of Parliament's Questioning After Allegations of Bias in Unauthorized Memorandum
We start with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament Caroline Dinenage, that chairs the group.
She opens by providing background to the disclosed memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and printed in the Telegraph.
"I do not desire the BBC tilting this way or that way, My only wish is for it balanced, impartial and just," he says.
Upon being questioned if he considers the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, Prescott responds: "Absolutely not. Let's be clear, a great deal the BBC does is world class - encompassing documentary and entertainment shows."
However, he continues: "There remains significant effort that requires attention at the BBC."
Another ex-adviser BBC consultant interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she regards the BBC very seriously and that it maintains a "persistent practice and vigorous discourse" on dynamic and complex issues.
"Was the BBC willing to conduct a proper discussion and exchange and implement changes?" she reflects. "In my view, indeed, they were."
