The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her remaining competitions in 2025 due to a health issue she has been battling in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will include trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

She was also playing noticeably restricted in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
